Our Company

Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. is a leading distributor of heavy equipment and cranes in the central United States. As a full-service dealer, Kirby-Smith has been serving the construction, mining, and industrial markets since 1983. Headquartered in Oklahoma City, we have additional full-service branches in Tulsa, Kansas City, St. Louis, Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene, Amarillo, Odessa, and Lubbock.

With a team of experts in each of our divisions - Crane, Heavy Equipment, and Industrial Equipment - we offer everything our customers need: parts, rentals, sales, service financing, product support, and training. Our relationships with more than 30 manufacturers allow us to offer a wide range of equipment to suit our customers' needs.

As the Authorized Komatsu Dealer for Oklahoma, North Texas, and West Texas, we sell, lease, and rent the full line of their products. Our parts and service departments are fully trained to provide prompt, quality service for these machines. Our sales staff has the expertise to fulfill each customer's needs with warranted Komatsu Products.

  • 1983 Incorporated in Oklahoma City.  Focused on selling used equipment.  
  • 1984 Became dealer for Link-Belt Cranes and Excavators.  
  • 1987 Purchased Advance Machinery Company and moved to current Oklahoma locations, and acquiring several new accounts including Komatsu.  
  • 1991 Awarded the franchise for Grove Cranes in Oklahoma. Also acquired AIS Continental Equipment Corp in Oklahoma City, adding the Dresserfranchise for Western Oklahoma.   
  • 1995 Awarded the Dresser franchise for Eastern Oklahoma.  
  • 2001 Expanded into North Texas with a third branch located in Ft. Worth, by purchasing the National Crane assets from Vermeer Equipment of Texas, Inc.  The Kansas territory for National Cranes was awarded to Kirby-Smith and was serviced out of the Oklahoma City and Tulsa locations.  
  • 2002 Awarded the franchise for Grove Cranes in Kansas, Missouri, and Southern Illinois. Purchased the Grove Crane assets from Fabick Tractor and established a fourth branch in St Louis.  
  • 2002 Awarded the Manitowoc account for Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Southern Illinois.
  • 2006 Awarded the franchise for Bomag compaction and milling products in North Texas and the LeeBoy/Rosco franchise for Kansas and W. Missouri.
  • 2007 Acquired property in Ft Worth, TX; constructed and relocated to new facility.  
  • 2009 Acquired property in Kansas City, Kansas, for construction of a new branch facility.
  • 2009 Acquired assets of Continental Equipment and Komatsu franchise for North and West Texas.
  • 2009 Awarded the Wirtgen America franchise for Oklahoma; North and West Texas.
  • 2010 Awarded the Kleemann and Atlas Copco franchise for Oklahoma; North and West Texas.
  • 2012 Awarded the Gehl and Manitou franchise for Oklahoma; North and West Texas.
  • 2012 New Facility in Odessa, TX.
  • 2013 New Facility in Abilene, TX.
  • 2014 Added Vacuworx Product line. 
  • 2015 John Arterberry named Crane Division Sales Manager
  • 2015 Shawn Ballard hired as Operations Manager for Odessa
  • 2015 Kirby-Smith adds Mellott Crusher & Screening Replacement Product Line
  • 2015 David Baker named Senior Vice President & Oklahoma City Branch Manager
  • 2015 Tom Montgomery named Vice President of Customer Care
  • 2015 Jeff Weller named Chief Operating Officer & Senior Vice President
  • 2016 North TX Realignment- Paul Bell as Sales & Operations Manager for Fort Worth & Abilene, Doug Bagley as Sales & Operations Manager for Dallas
  • 2016 Joe Trapani hired as Director of Pipeline Services to lead Kirby-Smith's newly formed Pipeline Division
